New levels of efficiency for external power supplies

The recently implemented CEC (California Energy Commission) level VI standards require all plugtop and desktop power supplies shipped to the USA and Canada to meet the new higher levels of efficiency, with the aim to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Driven by the sheer volume of external power supplies used around the home and workplace, that are connected to the mains supply even when the equipment is switched off. The latest legislation determines both the no-load power consumption and the active load efficiency.

Relec has level VI plugtop power supplies from 5W to 40W with interchangeable ac heads for the USA, UK, European & Australian markets, available with fixed single output voltage from 5V to 48Vdc.

Our range of level VI desktop power supplies are stock items and currently range from 36W to 250W supplied with a set of interchangeable dc plugs, the 36W has a standard single output of 5V, 6V 12V or 24Vdc, the higher wattages are available with 12V or 24Vdc outputs as standard (other outputs available to order).

For medical applications the level VI EM1024R 16 to 36W plugtop PSU’s meet UL/cUL/EN/IEC60601, again supplied with a set of interchangeable ac heads for the major markets. We also have the EM1068 40 to 72W range of medical desktop power supplies available to order with single output voltage from 5V to 56Vdc.
