High Input Voltage DC DC Converters (300V nom)

Relec Electronics is pleased to announce the general availability of a range of High Input Voltage DC DC Converters (300V nom) from Cincon. Each unit operates from an input range of 180 to 425Vdc (300V nominal) and have 3000VAC reinforced insulation as standard, meeting EN62368 & EN60950 safety standards.
The converters are designed to provide DC Power solutions from 150W-750W.
Modules come in industry-standard quarter, half and full brick sizes, and are suitable for distributed power architectures, telecommunications, data centres, base stations, battery-operated equipment, electric vehicles and industrial applications.

When designing in high voltage DC-DC Converters there are some essential points which need to be considered:
Safety & Isolation Levels
All Cincon HV brick converters feature reinforced input to output isolation, tested to 3000Vac. As well as DC input system, this makes them suitable for AC Systems with the addition of a front-end bridge rectifier.

Simplicity of EMC Design
DC-DC Converters fall in to one of 2 distinct design types: Variable switching frequency and constant switching frequency. Cincon’s DC-DC Converters all feature a constant switching frequency design. The constant switching frequency makes designing EMC Filters much easier, eliminating the need to cover multiple frequencies. Designers can use the reference circuits in the application notes with complete confidence.
Redundancy & High Power Parallel Operation
Many DC-DC converters are not designed for parallel operation because of a) their current limit characteristics and b) the lack of active current sharing. When operating multiple dc dc converters in parallel it is essential that the modules share the output power evenly. Cincon’s Full Brick high input voltage DC-DC converters provide active current sharing as standard. Active current sharing works from full load to light load condition.
The reference circuits below look at 4 different load scenarios:
(a) Parallel Operation
(b) Parallel operation with programmed and adjustable output
(c) N+1 Redundant Connection
(d) N+1 redundant connection with programmed output and adjustable output voltage
Comprehensive application notes are available guiding engineers on how to use Cincon products in a short time. Topics include Power derating, heatsinking, output voltage adjustment, remote sensing as well as EMC and reference PCB layouts.
