A leading company in UV sterilisation technology, required an advanced touchscreen display to integrate with their UV Sterilising Robot. Their previous display unit fell short of the required build quality, failing to meet the demanding standards expected in medical and industrial settings.

To address concerns and elevate the functionality of the UV Sterilising Robot, Relec Electronics offered a robust solution using the 11.6″ HDMI TFT LCD Display. This high-quality display features a resolution of 1920 x 1080, providing crisp and clear visuals necessary for precise control in a clinical environment.

Antibacterial coating

Recognising the medical application, we recommended adding an antibacterial coating to the touchscreen—a feature they had not previously implemented—to ensure hygienic handling and reduce the risk of contamination.

Backlighting

the customer had been experiencing issues with backlight flickering on their previous display, which affected the usability and reliability of the interface. Given the crucial role of the display in the device’s operation, we customised the backlight controller to eliminate this issue.

brightness levels

With brightness levels ranging from 900cd/m² to 1500cd/m², the display also proved suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor environments, maintaining excellent visibility even under direct sunlight.

The result was a highly functional, hygienic, and durable display that met the demands of the medical environment. The antibacterial-coated touchscreen offered enhanced cleanliness and safety, while the custom backlight controller ensured a stable and consistent viewing experience. Our client now benefits from a display with high contrast, full viewing angles (thanks to IPS technology), and outstanding brightness performance, making it ideal for use in demanding medical settings. With the issue of backlight flickering resolved, the display now operates flawlessly, providing seamless control for the UV Sterilising Robot.
