ACB-3000 adds redundancy for DC/AC inverter systems

Redundancy in electronic power systems means that in the event of a single point of failure, there will be an alternative source of energy available. In DC systems this is often realised by using multiple modules which are linked together by means of ORing diodes, or low loss MOSFET switches. In the event of any single module going short circuit at the output, the blocking element will ensure that the remaining parts of the system are unaffected.

AC systems are more complex due to the bipolar nature of the supply and also synchronising the frequencies of the incoming supplies. To overcome this Premium has launched the ACB-3000 series of dual input AC by-pass switches which enable redundancy to be added to mission-critical DC/AC inverter-based systems.

High Reliability & Availability of AC Supplies

The railway industry is increasingly using DC/AC inverters to power servers, data transmission systems (DTS), passenger information systems (PIS), CCTV, and peripheral sensors used to acquire data. The ability to add redundancy to the power system significantly reduces downtime and can keep trains running for longer.

Fast Changeover & Railway Compliance

The ACB-3000 series has been designed with solid-state technology, offering a switching period of less than 2 ms, and allows loads to be powered from various sources redundantly and reliably. The ACB-3000 can be used in conjunction with the single-phase inverters series ODS-750, ODS-1500 and ODS-3000 (120Vac and 230Vac output), but also between any two AC mains lines. It complies with the highest standards for the railway sector such as EN50155, Fire & Smoke EN45545, and Shock & Vibrations EN61373.

Fully Protected

The device is protected against overload and short-circuits by means of a current limiting circuit, shutting down the output, with indication via the “failure” LED. The compact ACB-3000 measures 78.34 x 60 x 200mm and the operating temperature range is -40 to +85°C.
