LCC Series Fanless Power Supplies – No Compromise Necessary

The LCC series of 250W and 600W conduction cooled power supplies are the ideal solution for applications where fan cooling, acoustic noise and particle ingress cannot be tolerated. 

Power supplies, by their very nature, have inefficiencies which generate losses in the form of heat.  The warmer any electronic equipment runs, the less reliable it will be in the long run, so these heat losses need to be dissipated in one way or another.  Most standard power supplies either use free air convection, or fan cooling to dissipate heat. There are however downsides including, maintenance of fans, acoustic noise, ingress of particles & liquids and creation of unwanted airflow.  The LCC series of conduction cooled power supplies have been developed to solve these issues in a cost effective and technically efficient way.

Fanless, Silent Operation

The LCC series design has been optimised for conduction cooling.  MOSFETs, transformers and rectifiers are mounted directly to the base plate, providing excellent thermal coupling to the outside world.  This allows the enclosure to be completely sealed, eliminating the use of fans, and producing a power supply with zero acoustic noise.

This approach lends the LCC Series to both indoor and outdoor projects.  Typical applications include:

Short Time To Market

The LCC series are self-contained power supplies.  They do not require external fans, heatsinks, EMC filters, or even enclosures.  They can be fitted right where they are needed, reducing design time, and getting the product out to market in the shortest possible time.

Low Cost Of Ownership

Power supplies often have relatively low reliability and high maintenance rates.  The elimination of fans in the LCC series, coupled with a design which has been optimised to keep the critical components cool, will significantly reduce the cost of ownership.

Full Power At All Times

The LCC Series are fully enclosed and conduction cooled, delivering full useable power at temperatures from -40 ˚C up to +85˚C. The LCC600 series has five models available (12 V, 24V, 28 V, 36 V or 48 V). Each module also has a 5 Vdc standby output that can supply up to 1.5A for auxiliary equipment.  The LCC600 is also equipped with I²C / PMBus communication making it extremely versatile in remote applications.
