Next Generation of Engineers – That Engineering Chat Podcast with Sales Director John Stone explores how Relec provide support for students and also looks at fund raising for The Brain Tumour Charity

Encouraging and supporting the next generation of design engineers is a popular topic today, but Relec Electronics has been investing in electronics students for years, with practical advice and support. In the latest That Engineering Chat podcast, Sales Director, John Stone, talks about some of the practical ways it has been helping students. From supplying AC-DC or DC-DC converters for projects to offering advice over the phone about how to rate a power supply, protect it or reduce noise, to help with a practical under-graduate assignment.

Relec has also worked with Team Bath Racing electric, supplying a TFT display for its electric racing vehicle, and Derby University students designing and building a miniature railway locomotive in another competition. These practical events get students out of the classroom and shows them the practical aspects of what they have been learning, says John. “It also gets them working in teams, which is great preparation for working life.”

Relec also offers samples for labwork and general engineering advice to A-level and university students and teachers/lecturers.

Relec is also a sponsor of the Crazy Jeans Soapbox challenge, where students build and race soapbox carts, to encourage a range of design and engineering skills in a fun environment.
