21.5” TFT & PCAP for Harsh Environments

Relec Electronics are pleased to introduce FutureLabs new 21.5” TFT display to the UK market. The FLC-215 series has an industry leading operating temperature range of -20°C to +80°C making them suitable for applications in challenging environments.

The FLC-215 series has a 21.5” screen size and a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.  Units can be supplied with brightness levels up to 1000CD/m².

The In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology used in the FLC-215 series was designed to solve the main limitation with conventional TN TFTs of restricted viewing angles and greyscale inversion when viewed away from the preferred viewing direction.  IPS provides true viewing angles from any direction. The technology involves arranging and switching the alignment of the crystal molecules between the glass substrates. This change reduces the amount of light scattered in the matrix.

The benefits not only include having the perfect colour balance from every point, but also allows the LCD to be mounted in either landscape or portrait orientation. The FLC-215 series also have an impressive contrast ratio of 5000 (Luminance of all pixels in white state divided by luminance of all pixels in black state), making them ideal for outdoor installations and are especially suited to marine applications with very high ambient light levels.

Futurelabs can also add a Projected capacitive (PCAP) touchscreen to the display with options optical bonding, anti-reflective polarisers, and antibacterial treatments.  Other options include adding rugged cover glass up to 6mm thick and the opportunity to fine tune the operating software to your specific needs.
